Resident woodpecker on a live oak tree.

Baby frogs on the leaves of the waterlily.

A Texas tarantula in the mulch...so exciting!

Here is a snake on our pool coping. I love seeing this in our yard. We have rat, corn, and king snakes on the property. I have never seen a poisonous snake here.

Last year's second brood of barn swallows above our front door. I put a litter box under the nest so the poops go in that and not on the path where we walk.

Our herd of Wildebeasts! Actually, this herd is found in a wildlife preservation.

My pet Ostrich and I think some Emu.

Okay, kidding aside, this truly is a buck Giraffe at Fossil Rim with his giant head inside our Expedition. He has passed away since this photo. He was a rescue from some abusive person who kept him in confinement, and didn't protect him from the cold. Masuli the giraffe suffered a great deal from frostbite on his legs and had several dangerous surgeries to keep him alive. As old as he was, being the buck of the herd and behind the scenes he sired two females and the entire staff at Fossil Rim was surprised when two females were pregnant with babies which survived! So, he left his offspring as his last act. They found him dead one morning. He was quite old. His young are now very tame and are part of the herd. I have Fossil Rim in my links.

He was 17 feet tall!

This is a cicada which emerged from it's exoskeleton after emerging from the ground. There are 17 year cicada's, this one is not. However, when the cicada's emerge every year there is this loud wheeze which lasts day and night.

A tiny fence lizard which just hatched out on the hand of my husband. He is the lizard whisperer as they always just hop on his hands.

A bunny. I was so happy to see this bunny because it means my backyard is also theirs.

Some Flamingo's flying by.

Our backyard view of the sunset.

Peace,
